To prepare for the Asia Pacific NGO Forum on Beijing + 15 an initiative was launched to gather together women with a focus on China's progress on gender equality. This document by the Chinese Women's Research Society provides an in-depth review and evaluation of the Chinese government's progress since the World Conference on Women, in particular since the “Beijing +10” Conference. The document is divided into twelve sections which correspond with twelve panels at the event: women and poverty, women and education, women and health care, violence against women, women and economy, women's participation in politics and decision-making, women's human rights and law, women and media, women and environment, the girl-child, the national mechanism for advancing status of women and gender mainstreaming, and the impact of the financial crisis on the development of Chinese women.
