Labour markets have been transformed by the process of globalisation and migration in recent decades, and this transformation has had important but varied gendered dimensions and impacts. This bibliography highlights the key gender issues and concerns in relation to voluntary economic migration in Asia, both internal and cross-border. It provides: a summary of theoretical frameworks used to understand migration; an overview of key issues regarding internal and cross border voluntary economic migration and gender in Asia; annotations of seven key texts addressing a range of migration and gender themes; annotations of a variety of texts on migration and gender in Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan and Vietnam.
