Women in Thailand: Country Briefing Paper
Publication Date: Dec 1998
The economic recession in Thailand will have a major impact on women, who are generally among the most vulnerable in the workforce in both public and private sectors. A particularly serious issue will be the sharp increase in female unemployment during the reform period. This Country Briefing Paper provides an overview of the situation of women in Thailand, and identifies current issues that concern them. The gender dimensions of policies and programs in Thailand are also presented and assessed. Lastly, gender issues are analysed within the context of the ADB's operations and recommendations for the ADB's gender strategy for Thailand are outlined.
