This collection of briefing notes was launched by the United Nations (UN) Department for Disarmament Affairs (DDA), in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and the Advancement of Women (OSAGI). The notes are part of a broader project designed to make disarmament more effective. The following topics are covered: gender perspectives on weapons of mass destruction; women's advocacy for peace and disarmament; gender perspectives on small arms; gender perspectives on DDR; gender perspectives on land mines; and gender perspectives on disarmament and development. Each topic has a dedicated page that provides an overview of the issues, a brief case study, and the concrete implications for gendered concerns as they relate to the particular aspect of disarmament.
